As the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) endeavours to improve its ease of doing business, the digital transformation of its front-facing and back-end systems is critical. With this in mind, the EMA, together with the Trinidad and Tobago International Financial Centre (TTIFC) and the Emerging Services and Innovation (ES&I) Division, embarked on an effort to implement online payments via credit and debit cards, along with the creation of a new CEC Customer Portal for automation of the submission of Certificate of Environmental Clearance (CEC) applications.
This new digital portal improves the ease of doing business and eliminates the paper-based CEC application, which aligns with EMA’s Strategic Plan (2022 – 2026) and the 2018 National Environmental Policy, priority of Evolving a Greener Economy,
